Celebrate this season by writing a love letter to earth. In light of the recent tragedies sweeping our world, we want to create hope and change for a brighter future. We have been committed to making the world a better place from the inception of ISĒ. It has always been at the heart of why we are here.
We sat down with people in our community, who are passionate about the earth as we are, and asked them to write a love letter to the earth. The sentiments expressed in the love letters left us speechless.
Over the next couple of months, we will be sharing these letters with you, in hopes to inspire you to change and reflect on your personal commitment to our planet and the place we call home.
What will you reflect upon or commit to the earth?

THE ROLLO FAMILY
Photography by Walter Maurice
We visited the Rollo family shortly after their daughter had her first birthday. Dilshani works as a designer in the fashion industry and recently moved into the interior design space. She is currently working on a personal project creating children’s lettering prints, Alpha+Bet. Her husband Alex is a paramedic who has a deep passion for philosophy and adores their first born poodle-mix, Rocco, a fun-loving puppy who never wants to miss out on any of the action.
“It is even more for Ruby than for ourselves that we are pledging our love for you today.”

“Some days we find you surreal in your natural beauty that we take the time to just sit and admire you. Other days however, we are brought to tears at the damage and destruction we as a species have wrought upon you.”

“Nobody deserves to be treated the way you have been treated, you being the least deserving of any we could imagine.”
Read their love letter to earth:
There is a bittersweet tone to this love letter, and for that, among many other things, we are deeply sorry. Your beauty, wonder and charm come so easy and naturally and we feel blessed to be here with you daily. Some days we find you surreal in your natural beauty that we take the time to just sit and admire you. Other days, however, we are brought to tears at the damage and destruction we as a species have wrought upon you. Nobody deserves to be treated the way you have been treated, you being the least deserving of any we could imagine.
We are so grateful for the gift of sentience and reason you have bestowed on us. Yet we are ashamed of how some have outright refused to imbue their actions with these powers. Your sunsets have us simultaneously reflecting on our own reality whilst oozing oxytocin. Your landscapes inflict a calmness and serenity over us like nothing else can. The diversity you display throughout your kingdoms is inspiring and an example we sit fit for humanity to try to emulate.
Submerging ourselves in your magnificent seas, oceans, beaches, rivers and lakes brings a sensation of truly connecting with you. We wish the countless hours we have spent picking rubbish off surrounding land to your water would have had some effect but sadly we see the garbage and waste replaced faster than it has been removed. Ruby, although only 1 year old is fascinated and thrilled by every opportunity she has to be in the water and we can’t wait to share a plethora more experiences with her as she grows throughout our lives.
It is even more for Ruby than for ourselves that we are pledging our love to you today. With our love will come a tireless effort to not only fix the damage and wrongdoing of those before us and around us today, but also to educate the coming generations of the value you play in our lives. We know there is no other planet for us and we will be ouright aggressive in defending you to those who don’t understand this reality. We understand that you are doing your best to accommodate our development in your changing weather patterns and altered environments but this should not be something you need to do for us. It will be, at least from this family, a two-way street from here on out.
We cherish and love you always and are eternally grateful for all you do for us.
