"I am learning everyday to allow the space between where I am and where I want to be to inspire me, and not terrify me."
This is a quote by Tracee Ellis Ross. When Judith Knuvers the founder of Leaf read this quote, she realised that one of the main reasons why we struggle to live more sustainably is the feeling of being overwhelmed. We sit down with Judith to learn about her journey and how she learned to live more sustainably.

"Whenever I talk about change I talk about conscious living, because to me, that’s where change begins. Once we’re conscious of the way we live our lives and how that makes us feel, we also become conscious of the things we’d like to change. When it comes to actually making changes, creating a vision really helps. A vision is basically a roadmap that will guide you from where you are now to where you want to be. It is something you can keep coming back to as you move through the process of change."
"Once you know what you want your daily life to look like and how you want to feel on a daily basis, you can start thinking about ways to integrate sustainability into your daily life. I believe that there isn’t a fixed definition of sustainability. That’s why I want to invite you to ask yourself: what does sustainability mean to you? Why it is important to you? And how can you make sustainability part of your daily life? If you’re not sure where to start, consider your values. What do you value in your daily life? What is important to you? And how do these values relate to sustainability?"
"For me, quality has always been really important. It’s something I value, and as such it is an integral part of my daily life. I care about the quality of the things that I buy, but I also care about the quality of my life. For example, do I have enough time for myself; is there a healthy balance between work and free time? Quality is, of course, also related to sustainability. By realising that quality was important to me, it became easier for me to see where I was making choices that were in line with that and where I maybe needed to make some changes. It also became easier for me to determine how I could integrate sustainability into my daily life. It’s still challenging at times, but understanding how you can make lasting (i.e. sustainable) changes can really help you create the life you desire."
